07 Sep 2008 Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has threatened to sue Norwegian telecom operator Telenor alleging they violated deals with Grameen Phone, officials said on Saturday.

07 Sep 2008 EU telecoms commissioner, Viviane Reding, is finalizing plans to cap cross-border text charges, within the 27 state EU, at euros 0.11.
According to consulting house BWCS staff Reding will reportedly seek support for her plans, part of a wider package of mobile market changes, from fellow commissioners in late September or early October.

Spanish operator Telefonica has announced it is to increase its stake in China Netcom. The move has apparently been driven by coming changes to the Chinese telecoms market which will see Netcom merge with China Unico, reports BWCA’s Mobile Data Daily.
Share dives 10% Nokia lowers its third quarter market share outlook
06 Sep 2008 Nokia said Friday that now expects its mobile device market share in the third quarter 2008 to be lower than the 40 pecent of the second quarter 2008. Oin July Nokia estimated the third quarter 2008 to be approximately at the same level sequentially.
Markets reacted strongly to Nokia announcement and Nokia's share price went down about ten percent.
Offering Internet services for downtown residents VimpelCom 3G goes commercial in St. Petersburg
04 Sep 2008 VimpelCom announced Wednesday the commercial launch of a 3G network in several Russian regions. 3G networks have been launched in four cities: Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara and Chelyabinsk.
